The perfect light moisturiser for the summer

May 31, 2016

Hot weather and humidity can make the skin feel oily and greasy, which is why it's useful to adapt your skincare routine to match the changing seasons.

Applying your usual rich moisturiser can make the skin feel sweaty and uncomfortable when temperatures rise, especially if you need to layer it up with sunscreen or heavy make-up products like foundation and concealer. Extra perspiration can result in acne and exacerbate existing dry skin conditions like eczema too. A lighter alternative, like Mama's Nourishing Body Cream, is ideal for the summer because it nourishes the skin without overpowering it.

This skin-conditioning salve combines Organic Sunflower Oil, Shea Butter and rejuvenating Mandarin Oil to lend the skin a gentle glow. Apply a small amount over your face and body to moisturise and uplift your complexion as a quick solution to the moisture loss that follows on from summer dehydration.

Take care of your skin from the inside out by drinking lots of water when the weather heats up. Because you'll be sweating more than usual it's very easy for the body to become dehydrated and for the skin to look sallow and dull. Always cleanse your skin with a mild product, like Mama's Shea Butter Soap, to remove perspiration, dirt and oil that can build up on the surface of the skin and clog the pores.
