4 easy ways to make your skin look better during pregnancy

March 18, 2016

So what can you do to improve your complexion during pregnancy? Here are our tips:

  1. Drink lots of water! This is a pretty obvious one but a good one. Your skin needs to be well-hydrated for it to look fresh and healthy. If you’ve reduced your tea/coffee intake to curb on caffeine you may be taking in fewer liquids without realising it so replace that cup of cha you used to have with a tall glass of water.
  2. Moisturise daily! As your baby bump grows you may find that your tummy and breasts feel itchy and tight. Moisturising your skin will reduce that discomfort and give your body some of its lost moisture back. Use a rich balm to reduce stretch marks or apply a body oil after a shower to hydrate your dry skin from top to toe.
  3. Eat well! Although being pregnant doesn’t give you a license to eat for two you should make sure you’re eating a healthy diet full of vitamins and good fats that condition the skin. Avocado and butternut squash are superb foods that are high in good fats, which prevent fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Cleanse! Remove your make-up every night to give your skin a chance to breathe. Why not kill two birds with one stone by using Mama’s Everything Body Balm to remove your eye-make up and moisturise your face. If your skin feels extra sensitive because of hormonal changes use a gentle cleanser that won’t strip your skin of moisture.
